A/Prof. Pan Deng from the College accepted an exclusive interview with the Beijing Branch of Cuba's national news agency Prensa Latina and commented on the just-concluded meeting between Chinese and American heads in San Francisco on 16 Nov, 2023.
Prensa Latina produced a press release as the main mastermind of the day, which included the “global significance of the meeting”, “the root causes of the current misunderstanding and conflict between the two countries”, and “the need for both sides to establish correct understanding and jointly manage differences”, and translated it into English and Russian to provide users with news products.
The report, which was at the crawl in the front page of the agency's website, was featured on the same day and the following day in the headlines of the commentary channel and the America channel. The following day, its English version was placed on the front page of the official website in the form of a subentry as the commentary accompanying the news report of the meeting of the heads. Its Russian version was posted on the same day and the following day as the headlines of the entire network.
Up to 20 November, multiple newspapers, magazines, websites and broadcast media in Cuba, Mexico, Chile and the Dominican Republic have adopted the full text of the interview articles from Prensa Latina, while a number of mainstream media outlets in Spanish, English and Russian have adopted or quoted relevant views.
Prensa Latina is one of the top 10 news agencies in the world and the most influential news agency in Latin. Based in Havana, Cuba, and with 37 bureaus around the world, it has signed nearly 80 agreements with national news agencies for the exchange of information and mutual assistance in the distribution of press releases in Spanish Portuguese, English, Russian, French and Italian. It operates a website and publications such as Cuba International, Telecom Integration and Caribbean.
