Prof. Zhang Tong's book the Study of the Harmonization of East Asian Contract Law: A Comparison with EU Contract Law was published by the China Renmin University Press in October 2015. This book is the result of the 2015-2018 EU Jean Monnet Chair Programme (Contract Number 2015-2285/001-001) led by Prof. Zhang Tong.
This book takes European contract law as the object of comparison, analyzes the necessity and possibility of the harmonization of contract law in China, Japan and South Korea from the economic basis and historical origin of the harmonization of contract law in East Asia, makes a comparative study of several important systems of contract law in China, Japan and South Korea, and explores the value of the unification of European contract law for the construction of contract law rules that may be involved in East Asian regional economic cooperation, explores the sources of new and old common law that harmonize East Asian contract law, and attempts to construct the basic framework of the model rules of the Principles of East Asian Contract Law.
