Prof. Zhang Tong's book the Study of the Unification of European Private Law was published by the China University of Political Science and Law Press in September 2012. This book is the research result of the 2011-2014 EU Jean Monnet Programme (Contract Number 2011-3251/001-001) led by Prof. Zhang Tong, and is also one of the 'EU Jean Monnet Programme Series'.
This book studies and analyses the concept, method and basic content framework of the unification of European private law, so as to present the overall development and latest achievements of the theory and practice of the unification of contemporary European private law, especially the possibility and dilemma of the codification of European civil law, and analyzes and comments on the characteristics, existing problems and future prospects of the current unification of European private law. Combined with the current situation of China's civil legislation and the actual needs of establishing a legal mechanism in the process of East Asian regional economic integration, this book excavates the concepts and methods that are beneficial to China's civil legislation, provides foreign ideological resources for China's ongoing civil law codification, and also provides useful experience for China to participate in East Asian regional economic cooperation and promote the harmonization and unification of East Asian private law.
