The China-America Law Institute

First known as the School of Sino-American Law in 2002, the China-America Law Institute is an integrated research and teaching institution focusing on American law and related areas of comparative law. The Institute combines graduate education, academic research, international cooperation and exchange and social services. The Institute has 10 full-time faculty members, who received their doctoral degrees from leading universities such as the University of New South Wales, Columbia University, the University of Minnesota and the University of Hawaii. They have published over dozens of treatises and hundreds of journal articles, and undertaken dozens of important research projects in recent years.


The Institute has developed an innovative program of study in American law, offering over 20 courses for postgraduates and using a variety of teaching methods including case studies, small group work, joint instructions and seminars. To date, the Institute has admitted and trained over 200 LL.M. and doctoral students. It has signed cooperative agreements with the law schools of many universities, including Fordham University, Indiana University, Michigan State University, Mitchell Hamline, Monash University, Bond University and Griffith University, and also conducted summer school programs with the Law School of Columbia University and the School of Law of Charles Darwin University.
