Sino-German Criminal Law and Criminology Symposium held

The Sino-German Law Institute of CUPL and  the Hanns Seidel Foundation co-organized the First Sino-German Criminal Law and Criminology Symposium on 4-5 Dec, 2015 on Xueyuanlu Campus.

The theme of the symposium was the Victim and the Protection of Victim in Criminal Justice. Three distinguished German professors from academic background of German criminal law, criminology and criminal procedure law met with Chinese scholars at CUPL. Vice-President Prof. Yu Zhigang attended the opening ceremony and presents remarks.
During the first session, Prof. Bernd Schuenemann from Law School of Munich University presented a speech on "Potential Victim's Statues in Criminal Procedure"; Then, A/Prof. Zheng Xi from Law School of Peking University made a report on "Public Security Authorities' Protection on Victim", and Prof. Wei Yuening from Criminal Justice College of CUPL made a report on "Current Statues and Rethinking of the Protection of Victim in Criminal Procedure". Dr. Gao Jie from Law School of Capital University of Economics and Business presented excellent comments.

Prof. Klaus Boers from Law School of Minster University spoke on "Attitude and Expectation of Criminal Victim" on the second session. Prof. Li Weihong and Dr. Fangjun from China Youth University of Political Studies made their reports on "Status of Victim in Criminal Reconciliation Applied Death Penaty Case" and "Compensation of Victim: Issues and Propectives". Commentary was provided by A/Prof. Sun Yuan.

On the third session, Prof. Thomas Hillenkamp from Law School of  Heidelburg University and A/Prof. Jiang Shuo from Law School of Peking University extended a dialogue on the Statues of Doctrine of Victim in Substantive Criminal Law. Vice-President of China Youth University of Political Studies & Deputy Chief Judge of First Criminal Trial Court of Supreme People's Court Prof. Lin Wei commented their reports, and offered in-detailed analysis of the influence and effect of the behaviour of victim on the Supreme People's Court' review of death penaty cases.

On the closing ceremony, Associate Dean of College of Comparative Law & Dean of Sino-German Law Institute A/Prof. Xie Libin and Director of Beijing Office of the Hanns Seidel Foundation Mr. Alexander Birle gave a brief summary and put forward a framewrok of further cooperation.
The symposuim was moderated by Dr. Huang He from the Sino-German Law Institute.
