Hosted by the College of Comparative Law and the Asia Academy of Comparative Law, co-organized by the Beijing Society of Comparative Law and Boss & Young Law Firm, the Third International Conference on Comparative Law and Global Common Law was held at China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing on 25-26 September, 2015.
The opening ceremony was held by the Secretary-General of the Administrative Council of the Asia Academy of Comparative Law & Dean of the College of Comparative Law of China University of Political Science and Law Prof. Gao Xiang.
President of the Administrative Council of the Asia Academy of Comparative Law & President of China University of Political Science and Law Prof. Huang Jin, President of the Curatorium of the Asia Academy of Comparative Law & Tenured Professor of China University of Political Science and Law Prof. Jiang Ping, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Switzerland in China Mr. Alain Gaschen, Economic Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in China Mr. Mitsutoshi Kajikawa, Deputy Director of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law Prof. Lukas Heckendorn Urscheler, and Secretary-General of the Caratorium of the Asia Academy of Comparative Law & Secretary-General of the Curatorium of the Xiamen Academy of International Law Prof. Cheng Chia-Jui from School of Law of Soochow University, and Executive Vice-President of the China Society of Comparative Law Prof. LI Xiuqing from School of Law of the East China University of Political Science and Law presented opening remarks.
The third Conference built upon the success of the first and the second conferences in 2011 and 2013 byagain bringing together about 100 leading experts from Australia, Japan, India, Indonesia, Israel, Russia, South Korea, Switzerland, the U.K and mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan to address vital issues of comparative law. This year's theme was "the Role of Comparative Law in the Development of a Legal System". The two-day conference set up a main venue and a parallel venue, during which topics included: 1) Relationship between Comparative Law and Other Branches of Law; 2) Comparative Study on Constitutional Law of Asian Countries; 3) Experiences in the Formulation of a Civil Code in Asian Countries; 4) Theory and Practice of Anti-Monopoly Law; 5) Cyber Law; and 6) Globalization of Commercial Law.
