The First Comparative Law Beijing Forum on South China Sea Issue and Marine Law was held on 18 May, 2013. The event was hosted by Beijing Comparative Law Society, organized by the College of Comparative Law of CUPL and co-organized by the Military Law Institute of CUPL Law School.
Dean of College of Comparative Law Prof. Gao Xiang moderated the forum. President of CUPL Prof. Huang Jin, President of Beijing Comparative Law Society of China Law Society Prof. Liu Zhaoxing as well as its Vice-President Du Shiping, Deputy Director of National Law Office of Legislative Affairs Commission of NPC Sun Zhenping, Deputy Director-General of International Cooperation Department of the State Oceanic Administration Liang Jinzhe attended the conference. Up to 50 experts and scholars from universities and institutes in mainland China and Taiwan region, leaders and experts from the National Law Office of Legislative Affairs Commission, the State Oceanic Administration, the Bureau of Legislative Affairs of Central Military Commission and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council participated in this event.
Four meetings were held in this forum focusing on South China Sea issue and marine law. The conferees discussed on the latest hot spot related to the conflict against South China Sea among mainland China, Taiwan region and Philippine. They reviewed the history of this conflict and similar cases, exchanged opinions on the solutions of South China Sea legal issues and provided suggestions on China marine management.
