The Institute of Sino-Italian Law and Roman Law of the College held the Third Sino-Italian Law-Roman Law Academic Salon & Curriculum Seminar on Curriculum Setting of Internationalised Legal Talents Experimental Class Programme (National Law-Italian Law and Roman Law) on Xueyuanlu Campus on the afternoon of 22 Sept, 2020.
The salon/seminar was moderated by the Director of the Institute Prof. Fei Anling. Participating teachers were Prof. Liu Jia’an, Prof. Luo Zhimin, A/Prof. Luo Guannan, A/Prof. Lei Jia, A/Prof. Xu Wenming, A/Prof. Weng Wuyao, A/Prof. Tao Qian, Dr. Li Wenjing, Dr. Li Mei, Dr. Wu Lan, Dr. Li Lin, Dr. Geng Jialing and Dr. Guo Yihao from the University. In addition, A/Prof. Chen Youliang and A/Prof. Zhai Yuanjian sent written statements. The event also invited student Ma Mengping and Li Haowei as representatives of postgraduate students to attend and put forward their suggestions on relevant topics.
All the participating teachers used to study in Italy, and 13 of them obtained their doctor of law degrees in Italy.
The present and future of Italian law and Roman law teaching and the training of talents of Italian law and Roman law of the University were discussed, and a consensus was reached.
Apart from that, the teachers discussed the establishment of an optional module for the Internationalised Experimental Class on the Rule of Law (National Law-Italian Law and Roman Law). They concluded that based on the existing relevant teaching faculty resources in China, a bilingual course on Italian public law (constitution, administrative and administrative law, criminal and administrative law, tax and Consumer Law), Italian private law (civil and commercial law, intellectual property law, civil and arbitration Law), the history of Italian law, Roman Law and Latin is recommended for the pilot class. At the same time, they also suggested that the above-mentioned modules shall be open to postgraduate students specializing in Italian and Roman law in the field of national law, juris master students with a bachelor’s degree in Italian and law students with a foundation in Italian in other fields.
