Professor Zhang Tong, Director of the European Law Institute of the College, was elected as the Vice-Presidentof Law Society of Chinese Association for European Studies on the 10th Annual Meeting of the Society in Wuhan on 5 Nov, 2016.
Her appointment was made after the recommendation and election process by the Executive Committee of the Law Society of Chinese Association for European Studies on 4 Nov.
Zhang's researching and teaching field is the EU law, integration law and comparativestudies between Chinese and European private law. Since 2006, Prof. Zhang has been in charge of several influential European research programs such as China-EU European Research Center Program and Jean Monnet Program.
In September of 2015, Zhang was awarded Jean Monnet Chair Professor, the top academic honour to scholars teaching and researching on European issue to a global extent by the E.U. So far, this award were only given to two law scholars in China, including Zhang (the other receipient Prof. Zeng Lingliang from Wuhan Univeristy passed away).
