Health Law Research Centre of CUPL

The Health Law Research Centre of CUPL was established by Prof. Ying Songnian and Prof. Xie Zhiyong in 2010. Currently, the center boasts a team of dedicated professionals with 10 full-time faculty members, including 7 professors, 3 associate professors, and 6 of them are supervisors to doctoral students. Additionally, there are 10 part-time instructors contributing to research in various fields, such as health law, constitutional law, civil and commercial law, administrative law and evidence law. This well-structured and innovative team demonstrates a strong collaborative spirit within the realm of health law education. Moreover, the centre has established partnerships with over 10 external practitioners from esteemed institutions, including the National Health Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Medical Products Administration, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission and the China Healthcare Insurance Research Association. These external mentors offer professional guidance for practical health law teaching and students' career planning. Since 2016, the center has enrolled and nurtured over 90 postgraduate students specialsing in health law, with 63 having already graduated.


Over the past five years, the centre's research team has undertaken about 30 programmes in the field of health law. They published around 50 papers and offered suggestions for the formulation and amendment of laws and regulations such as the Basic Medical Care and Health Promotion Law, Vaccine Law, Drug Management Law and Population and Family Planning Law. Their research notably focused on legal issues concerning assisted reproductive technology, medical insurance, infectious disease prevention and control and other topics, providing the modernisation of China's health legal system with vital talent and intellectual support.
