Co-sponsored by the Sino-German Law Institute of CUPL, Law School of China Youth University of Political Studies and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the Second Sino-German Criminal Law and Criminology Symposium was held in Beijing on the morning of 26 Nov, 2016. This year’s theme was Juvenile Justice and Teenager Penalty.
Over a hundred participants including scholars from higher education and institutions such as the Hanns Seidel Foundation, University of Munich, University of Passau, University of Marburg, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University, Northwest University of Political Science and Law and CUPL, heads of legal practice departments like the Supreme People’s Court of the PRC and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the PRC, and journalists from People’s Court Daily and China News Service attended the conference.
The symposium was divided into three sessions. In each session, 3 speakers from each side of China and German gave a 30 minutes report, and led to a heated discussion.
The conference provided a better understanding of the state system to the scholars from both sides.
