The German Academic Exchange Center (DAAD) delegation visited the Sino-German Law Institute on the afternoon of 14 March, 2014. Vice President Zhu Yong met the Deputy Secretary-General of DAAD Mr. Ulrich Grothus and DAAD Beijing Office Director Dr. Thomas Schmidt-Doerr on Xueyuelu campus.
Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of CUPL Prof. Li Guoqiang, Dean of College of Comparative Law Prof. Gao Xiang, Dean of Sino-German Law Institute A/Prof. Xie Libin and its Associate Dean Dr. Marco Haase attended the meeting.
Vice President Zhu Yong first extended his warm welcome to the delegation, and then expressed his gratitude that DAAD has been supporting the university's cooperation with German higher education institutions for a long time. CUPL has gained distinct achievement in the field of its cooperation with German legal education. The Sino-German Law Institute has trained over one hundred dual degree master program students. The number of the students CUPL sent to Germany to gain a law PhD degree ranks first of all Chinese universities and reflects the strong relationship between CUPL and Germany's top universities.
German legal studies has becoming gradually more influential to CUPL's legal education, legal research and law practice. The University values its relationship with German institutions and the development of the Sino-German Law Institute, also expecting more support and fund from DAAD.
Mr. Ulrich Grothus spoke highly of the development and achievement of the Sino-German Law Institute during last decade. He said that the Institute is a role model for China-Germany cooperation, and it is of significant to the continuity of two countries' relationship. DAAD will fully support and fund a comprehensive and deep collaboration with CUPL.
