In order to further expand the channels for employment internship, and to rally the strength of alumni, Director of the College Administrative Office Liu Ming and Student Tutor Yang Mingquan, as teachers' representatives, visited certain enterprises in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province as well as alumni in these areas on 20-23 April, 2023.
Liu Ming and Yang Mingquan went to visit the Zhejiang Zeda Law Firm on 20 April. Director partner of the Firm Qian Liang, its senior partners Jin Linwei, Han Liping, Zhu Xinxin and alumna of the College Ye Yunhan attended the meeting.
On behalf of the Firm, Qian warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced the history, personnel, business income, cultural concept and future outlook of the law firm in detail. According to him, Zeda was set up in 2001 as a Zhejiang University law firm and was among the first‘National Excellent Law Firms' in 2005. It was the first in the city to generate ten million per cent of revenues, it is also the largest law firm in Zhejiang province. The firm is open to the University and College's outstanding graduates, also very good at school-enterprise cooperation. He hoped to explore the establishment of internship practice partnership.
Yang introduced the basic situation of the University and College, as well as the College's characteristics and advantages in student training, faculty team, scientific research and international exchanges. She said that since the College began recruiting students in 2004, it has trained more than 1,000 graduates. In particular, under the international training model, graduates generally grow into compound talents who are proficient in law and foreign languages. Their work ability and the accomplishment obtained the multitudinous employer's approval. She hoped to have in-depth cooperation with the firm in such areas as student internships and foreign law ascertaining.
Jin Linwei, Zhu Xinxin and Ye Yunhan shared their career development experience as representatives of the alumni. The two parties further exchanged on employment and internship recruitment, base construction and other aspects. Han also led a tour of the firm for Liu and Yang.
Liu and Yang went to visit the Shanghai Shaohe Law Firm on 21 April. The founder and partner of the firm Shao Wanlei and an alumna of the College Yao Feiyue attended the event.
On behalf of the firm, Shao warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation and introduced the development process, business field and staff structure of the firm. He said that the Shanghai Shaohe Law Firm has a good relationship with the German Luther Law Firm. It specializes in legal services for German-speaking companies and has now expanded to France, Italy, Spain and other countries. Law graduates with German, French, Italian, Spanish and other educational backgrounds are very welcome to join for an internship or a job.
Liu introduced the student training, teacher strength, international exchange and other aspects of the College. She said that the College is committed to training international and compound senior legal talents, especially relying on the cooperation programmes between the University and seven partner universities in Germany. The College has trained a large number of students who are proficient in German law and Chinese law as well as German. At the same time, the College began to enroll the first Internationalised Legal Talents Experimental Class, which selects students from the best universities of foreign languages in the country, including French, Italian and Spanish, to pursue a master's degree in law at the College. It has further expanded and strengthened the fields and dynamics of internationalised legal personnel training. She hoped to establish a sound partnership on student internship with the firm.
Finally, the participants further discussed the training of students, internship, employment and other issues.
Liu and Yang visited the Jun Zejun (Nanjing) Law Firm on 23 April. Partner of the firm and also an alumna of the College Zhou Liping attended the event. Zhou expressed her sincere welcome to the visit of her alma mater and introduced the background of the law firm and the business and personnel situation of the team under her charge. She said the firm and her team are in desperate need of bright legal talents and they provide young talent with a quality platform to grow. She said that the firm welcomes collaboration on student internships. Liu introduced the development of the College in recent years, focusing on the teaching staff, the Foreign Law Ascertainment and Research Centre of CUPL, foreign-related legal personnel training. The participants had in-depth exchanges on lawyer career development and practice base construction.
Apart from that, during this trip, they also hosted a reception for more than 30 alumni from Hangzhou, Shanghai and Nanjing. On behalf of all the faculty and students of the College, they extended the greetings to the alumni and introduced the new changes and developments of the University and the College. They welcomed the alumni to often return to their alma mater, and hoped to enhance friendship, strengthen communication and deepen cooperation.
The activity of visiting enterprises and expanding posts is one of a series of measures to promote employment in the spring term of the College, which aims to promote the cooperation between the University and enterprises and the contact of alumni, to expand the employment positions for the graduating students of year 2023, and to seek a new platform for the student internships, and further promote the social recognition and visibility of the course in comparative law and the College. The College will earnestly implement the outcome of the activity, continue to mobilise the faculty and the alumni, working together to do a good job for class 2023 graduates' employment.
