In order to help this year's graduating students improve their interview skills, the College organised a mock job interview for civil servant examination on the evening of 11 March, 2021.
Cai Mingbo from the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Service Centre of CUPL, an alumnus of the College Chen Xinqi and the College Student Tutor Yang Mingquan were invited to serve as the examiners. The most common structured interview process for the Civil Servant Examination was adopted in the mock interview, and a total of 8 students signed up to participate.
This activity was divided into four parts, draw lots, interview, comment and summary. First of all, Yang Mingquan explained the interview process to the students in the waiting room and organised the students to draw lots. Subsequently, the students entered the exam room one by one according to the order of drawing lots, and conducted a full-scale mock interview. After the interview, three judges commented on each student’s performance and answered their questions.
Cai Mingbo carried out a detailed evaluation and guidance from angles like the content, language, instrument and other aspects of the students' performance, and pointed out the deficiencies and suggestions for improvement. Chen Xinqi combined his own interview experience, stressed the skills of expression in the interview that students need to pay attention to interaction, the use of time and the control of the speed of speech. Yang Mingquan commented on the students' interview performance comprehensively and offered some tips on ideas and skills for answering the questions in the interview. Finally, the three judges focused on answering the questions of the students to improve their interview skills and put forward a lot of valuable advice.
